City of Sierra Vista Title VI Nondiscrimination Policy Statement

The following policy statement supports the implementation of these activities:

The City of Sierra Vista is committed to ensuring that no person is discriminated against on the grounds of color, race, or national origin as provided by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related authorities. Specifically, Title VI asserts that, “No person in the United States shall, on the grounds of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.” Additional protections are provided in other federal and state authorities for individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP), income status, sex, and age.

The City of Sierra Vista and Vista Transit strives to ensure nondiscrimination in all of its programs and activities, whether those programs are federally funded or not. As a Federal Transit Administration (FTA) fund recipient, Vista Transit will ensure that its programs, policies and activities comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, and Department of Transportation regulations as they relate to initiating and monitoring Title VI activities, preparing required reports, and other responsibilities. The U.S. Department of Transportation Title VI implementing regulations can be found at 49 CFR Part 21.
